At Convoy, your privacy is fundamental to how we build our product. We designed the app to collect only what is strictly necessary for your convoy to work, and nothing more. This policy explains exactly what data we handle and how.
What Data We Collect
Location Data
We collect your location only during active trips. Location sharing is trip-scoped, meaning it begins when you join a convoy and ends when the trip is over. We do not track your location at any other time.
Display Name & Car Name
When you use Convoy, you choose a display name and a name for your car. These are user-provided and used solely to identify you within your convoy.
Marker Colour Preference
You can choose a colour for your marker on the convoy map. This preference is stored to personalise your experience.
Trip Statistics
Distance, duration, and speed data are calculated and stored locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers.
Room Codes
When you create or join a convoy, an ephemeral room code is generated. These codes are trip-scoped and expire when the trip ends.
How We Use Your Data

What We Do Not Do
No tracking outside of active trips. When you are not in a convoy, we have no idea where you are. Full stop.
No selling data to third parties. Your data is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or data brokers.
No advertising profiles. We do not build profiles about you for advertising purposes. Convoy has no ads.
No persistent location history on our servers. Live position data is retained for a maximum of 24 hours, then permanently deleted.

Third-Party Services
Convoy uses a minimal number of third-party services to function:
- Apple MapKit — Provides map rendering within the app. Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Railway — Hosts our backend infrastructure. Subject to Railway's Privacy Policy.
We do not use any analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
Your Rights & Controls
You are in control of your data at all times:
- Stop sharing location — Close the app or leave the trip at any time to immediately stop location sharing.
- Leave any trip — You can leave a convoy at any point. Your location will no longer be visible to other members.
- Delete local data — Clear your trip statistics and preferences through the app settings, or by deleting the app from your device.
- Request account deletion — Email us at hello@letsconvoy.com and we will delete all data associated with your account within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
Convoy is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. Continued use of Convoy after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
